information on the invasion of iraq

The September 11 attacks (of ten referred to as September 11 or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks suicide attacks by al queda upon the united states on September 11, 2001. 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the twin towers or the world trade centre in new york city. The third plane crashed into the pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed in a field in shanksvielle in rural Pennsylvania. After this horrific attack George Bush announced a war on terror, it is an ongoing international military campaign led by the united states of america and the united kingdom. The campaign was launched in 2001 with the us/uk invasion of afghanistan in response to the september 11th attacks. since then, other operations have commenced, the largest being the war in iraq, beggining with the 2003 invasion. the 2003 invasion of iraq (march 20th-may 1st), was the start of the conflict known as the iraq war or operation iraqi freedom in which a combined force of troops from the united states, alongside the united kingdom invaded iraq and toppled the regime saddam hussien in 21 days. According to U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the reasons for the invasion were "to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's alleged support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people."According to Blair, the trigger was Iraq's failure to take a "final opportunity" to disarm itself of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons that US and British officials called an immediate and intolerable threat to world peace. The war lasted untill august 31st, 2010 and has been questioned about its true motives and whether there were any weapons off mass destruction as they were never found also it has been questioned whether oil was the real motive for the attack as there was a law passed on that states that 75% of all the oil goes to american companies so it means that the motives cant be justified by the government of the invading countries. However if there were no weapons of mass desruction then what was sadam trying to hide from the countrys.

my question

I am slightly changing my question so that it is not about the affganistan war where as the films i have are about the iraq conflict it is also easier to get up information about it and more books have been made around it.

Waltz of Bashir

The film i chose waltz of Bashir as one of my secondary films which i was told to use is in the wrong conflict so i decided to chose the film, Thhe kingdom as i feel it has a lot of values and ideologies around the Iraq war.

My classmate presentations of their small scale reasearch question's

Stacey Craigs question
How is Jonny Depp presented as an anti hero.
The films she will be basing her study around are:
Sweeney Todd (focus film)
Alice in wonderland
Charlie and the chocolate factory
Her presentation was good but i did not understand what she was going to study as there was not a lot of research but it was a good presentation.

Alex Flyn
How has pixar changed over the years
The films he will be basing his study around are:
Finding nemo (focus film)
Toy story
Shrek rival of pixar
He is arguing that pixar has replaced 2d and changed the animation industry.
His presentation was also good but i again did not understand what he was base his study and research around.

Hayley Morris
How 1070's musicals rebels against stereotypes of sexuality and gender
The rocky horror picture show is her focus film
Greece
caburai
Key scenes: Sweet transvestite
Key characters: Dr Frank N Furter- transexual-contrasts of the movie-he is sexually premiscuous.
Reflects her focus area in that it shows different sexuality which was uncommon in the 1970's in new portrayals-against stereotypes first of its kind in film.
Narrative structure-told as a story, retelling from "police reports" by mysterious man.
Micro features- culture sound perform satting.
Messages+values acceptance-tolerance.
Her presentation was quite lenthy and i understood her question fully

Oliver rothwell
Social ideologies represented within the zombie horror genre
Zombie land
Dawn of the dead(focus film)
28 weeks later
Micro features: cinematography sound and performance.
A good presentation i did understand his question however i would have picked 28 days later instead of weeks as it is better and has more ideologies and underlying messages.

Caroline Gittins
The films she will be using are:
Alice in wonderlan (focus film)
Edward scissor hand
Edwood
sleepy hollow
Micro-features: make up, costumes

New small scale reasearch question

The idealogies of Iraq/Afghanistan war as depicted within a body of films. The films i will be using are Hurtlocker, Greenzone, Waltz with Bashir and maybe Jarhead.

Original question

The ideologies of war as depicted within a body of films however i decided it was to broad and i would not ne able to do a small scale reasearch on something so broad as loads of wars over the last 50 to 60 years.
